Grega Bole 7th in Mino, still ratained our lead in GC and points
Mino, Wednesday 23rd May – Another circuit course in stage 4 Tour of Japan. Team Bahrain-Merida did not take risk in the rain, but stayed in the front of the peloton. In the final lap, Grega Bole made it in the selected front group, he finished 7th: “Our plan was to keep the jersey. I know I suffer in this weather. my legs were not so brilliant in the end, but I am happy that we brought it back to a bunch sprint and kept the jersey.”
Grega kept the green and blue jersey in Mino stage, he is now 5 seconds ahead of Marco Canola(NIPPO Vini Fantini Europa Ovini) and 8 seconds ahead of today’s winner Mihkel Räim(Israel Cycling Academy). These 2 riders are also his main competitors in point classification. He takes the lead by 3 and 8 points ahead of Marco and Mihkel.
After the crash yesterday, it was a shame that Yukiya Arashiro was forced to withdraw due to his injuries, we have now 5 riders left in the squad: “Already it is difficult with 6 riders, but now we lost Yukiya, who was in good shape, so we lost one important rider. It would be more difficult to defend this jersey,” says Grega in the post-race interview.
