Good race today for Meiyin Wang

  |   Press

Grado, 23 June, 4th stage – A very good race race for our Meiyin Wang in the AIR penultimate stage. The Chinese rider, in fact, was the protagonist of the long breakaway that has animated the today race that brought back the peloton from mountains to the Adriatic Sea.

“There were a couple of attempts to attack – says Wang – and then I managed to get out of the bunch along with 6 other riders. We did over 200km break and we had a maximum advantage of 6 minutes. We were resumed with only 5km to go but I’m happy the same, I did not think I could recover so well after yesterday’s effort “.

Yukiya Arashiro also made a good sprint but he was penalized by a crash in the last kilometer: “I was in good position – he comments – but at the last roundabout a rider fell in front of me and I lost time”.

The Italian Elia Viviani conquered his second victory, while the Colombian Ivan Ramiro Sosa has maintained the overall leadership.

Tomorrow the last stage of this Adriatica Ionica Race first edition. From Grado to Trieste of only 116km with a final circuit in the city center of almost 6km to be repeated 7 times.

“The last stage is still missing, but until now it has been a fun race with a varied and interesting route – underlines Valerio Agnoli – and if it should grow in the next years it could become an important race for those who are preparing the Tour de France”.
