Good debut at Volta Valenciana: Teuns 4th and Tratnik 9th
Orihuela (Spain), February 6th 2019 – Team BAHRAIN MERIDA new riders Dylan Teuns and Jan Tratnik finished in the top ten in the opening individual time trial at the Volta a La Comunitat Valenciana (Orihuela- Orihuela 10.2km). On the course around Orihuela, with a challenging 600 meters long final climb, the Belgian was 4th, with a time 8 seconds slower than that of the winner Boasson Hagen, while the ITT Slovenian National Champion was 9th (+19”).
“We’re quite happy because both our time trial specialist Jan Tratnik and our GC contender Dylan Teuns took top ten results” Sports Director Vladimir Miholjević comments “In particular the 4thplace of Dylan makes us feel confident for the general classification fight. Good performance of the other boys as well”.
The first European race of the year was also the debut race with Team Bahrain Merida jersey both for Teuns and Tratnik: “Time trial suits me and I was looking for to do a good result and I think I did it. I’m satisfied with my beginning of the season” the Slovenian says.
Speaking after the finish the Belgian rider, who is our leader in this stage race, comments: “I’m happy with the performance of today’s time trial. I can be happy with the shape, you know I was guessing how it was seen it was my first race of the season. Now let’s looking forward to the upcoming stages”.
