Giro d’Italia

May 11th – June 2nd

SATURDAY, 18 MAY 2019

Tortoreto Lido>Pesaro, 239km. Sprint Finish.

“Tomorrow ITT is one of the turning-points of this Giro d’Italia – explains SD Alberto Volpi – and it will surely change the overall because it is the first direct clash among the favorites for the final pink jersey”.
“Vincenzo and his teammates are doing well and are ready to tackle a 34.8km route that includes a first part of almost flat 22km and the remaining 12km climbing to San Marino. The race is suitable for eclectic riders who will be able to combine at best the pace changes between the plain and the climb”.
Meanwhile, the eighth stage with arrival in Pesaro was won by the Australian sprinter Caleb Ewan, with Valerio Agnoli sprinting to 12th place, while the Italian Valerio Conti is still leading the overall.
“Even today – comments Andrea Garosio – the stage has been challenging with so much stress and we have always worked to keep Vincenzo in the best possible position. A lot of energy is consumed but the important thing is to arrive without too many risks at the end of the race”.
