Orbetello>Frascati, 235km. Undulating and uphill finale.

“It has always been so – comments SD Alberto Volpi – riding on these roads makes the race very insidious especially in these first stages where everyone has a lot of energy and wants to stay ahead. A carelessness of a rider caused a fall that could have been far more serious consequences for the GC riders including our Vincenzo”.
“In a second fall, Domenico Pozzovivo was also involved and we are evaluating his conditions. Let us console ourselves by saying that it could have been much worse and we still have two tow riders, Vincenzo and Damiano Carusom in the Top ten”.
The fourth ending in Frascati was heavily conditioned by the crash in the peloton with only 7km to go. Many GC contenders like Nibali, Yates and Lopez lost 16 “from the pink jersey Primoz Roglic who was the first group.
The overall always sees the lead of the Slovenian rider with 35“ advantage over Yates and 39” over Vincenzo.
