Giro d’Italia

May 11th – June 2nd

THURSDAY, 30 MAY 2019

Valdaora>Santa Maria di Sala, 222km. Downhill almost all the way to the finish.

“Two very difficult days await us plus the last time trial in Verona – says Vincenzo Nibali, sitting on of the bus team stairs – and the energies are few for all. I have nothing to lose and so I am very calm. Tomorrow we arrive uphill but it is not so hard, I think that Saturday’s stage will make the difference”.
Meanwhile today, Damiano Cima, one of the three strikers of the day, won stage number 18 just ahead of the other sprinters left in the peloton. Richard Carapaz is always in the pink jersey with our Vincenzo always in second position.
“It was a stage with so much downhill – says Andrea Garosio – and therefore very fast with rain in the middle phase and in the bunch we were thinking that the race would end up in the sprint. Instead, today the breakaway won!”.
