Feng took 4th place at the queen stage of TOJ!
Izu, 27th May – The queen stage Izu is 12.2km x 10 laps in the lumpy Shizuoka Prefecture. With total elevation gain 3,750m, this is definitely the hardest stage of TOJ, and also the last chance of team leaders to fight for their green jersey.
With 4 breakaways in the front, Chun Kai Feng was leading the chase with the blue jersey Marco Canola(Nippo-Vini Fantini), and the duo successfully caught 2 riders before the finish, thanks to the decisive move, Feng took an impressive 4th in Izu, our best young rider Domen Novak secured his title in the young rider classification.
“I am happy for keeping the white jersey. I am happy for Feng, 4th place. This is good for team; at the start of the race, I was not feeling good, but now, I have good feelings.” Our best young rider Domen Novak attacked the small group into the finish, the promising Slovenian took 8th, which is another top 10 performance for Team Bahrain-Merida.
Our sports director Tristan Hoffman commented: “I am sure Feng already did some races in Europe, and I see he has done a lot, he deserves to be on the podium today. I am happy he was in the attack, because this was a very very hard circuit, and if he can do that, it means he has good legs and is in a good condition. One more day, we will try tomorrow again.”
