Eschborn Frankfurt

May 1st

SUNDAY, 1 MAY 2019

Eschborn – Frankfurt, 187.5km.

Grega Bole sprinted to tenth place in Frankfurt. Unfortunately Bahrain Merida sprinter Phil Bauhaus was out of the race: “I’m very disappointed. I didn’t feel good from the beginning and I was forced to abandon. It was a really important race for me and I was super motivated, but I have no legs. I’ve to analyse on next days why I was not feeling good today”.
Anyway Bahrain Merida team was very active today. They controlled the race and Matej Mohorič was able to jump on the breakaway that was caught with few Kms to go: “I’m satisfied with my performance, but I can’t be happy with the result. I tried to attack, but the guys in the breakaway were not strong enough to stay away. After they caught us I tried to keep a good position in the bunch, but I could only sprint for 11th place. The result was not the best, but the legs were good”.
Mohorič finished just behind Bole: “In the end in the last corner I lost speed and I had to do the sprint from there to catch the other riders and then it was too hard to pass some other guys in the final meters. Anyway I think we can be happy with our performance. We race very well today. We showed our jersey very well today”.
