Dunkerque: Bonifazio sprints to 2nd place in Stage 3!
Amiens, May 11th – In France Team BAHRAIN MERIDA took a good second place with Niccolò Bonifazio in Stage 3 (Beauvais-Amiens, 152 km) of the “4 Jours de Dunkerque”.
In the finale towards the finish in Amiens, Benjamin Thomas took a little advantage over the group, that couldn’t reach him. Bonifazio, perfectly led out by his teammates, sprinted to second, ahead of Arnaud Demare.
Speaking just after the finish, the Italian sprinter says: “It’s a good second place, because it was a hilly stage and in the finale there were some climbs where we were in a row.
In the last km my teammates led me out very well and we succeeded in doing a great team work. I could take the wheel of Demare and do a good sprint, even if it was impossible to catch Thomas who took a little of advantage. I’m happy because my legs were good after a month of stop. Let’s see next days. Thanks to my team!”
Sports Director Vladimir Miholjević adds: “It was a very nervous and windy day. Our riders always stayed compact and together. At the end we managed to gain a good result, bringing Bonny on the right position for the final sprint”.
