Nice, Sunday 11th March – A dramatic start in a rainy and windy Nice an even more dramatic finish of the Paris Nice 2018.

»It’s a bit bitter sweet podium for us today. We had the perfect opportunity to win after leaving Yates behind and yet we couldn’t make it to the first podium«, said Gorka waiting to walk onto the podium and take the laurel for the 3rd overall place in the General Classification.

»At one point we had our golden chance today. After the unfortunate crash the Izagirre brothers made the best of the circumstances. On the other hand had they not taken the risk and stayed in the group with Wellens, Yates would have most likely have caught them and the result would have been the same. So, all in all I am very satisfied with the entire week of racing. We have been very strong, all the time at the top of the GC and our team was fighting as a whole every day. This reflects also in the overall result as we were the Team of the race«, commented full of pride Sports Director Gorazd Štangelj.

General Classification results:

  1. Soler M. (MOV) 30h22’41”
  2. Yates S. (MTS) +04”
  3. Izagirre Insausti Gorka (TBM) +14”
