Heavy storm and hail made the Queen stage even tougher. The race was decided on the final climb with the GC contenders bridging the gap to the escapees. Then the counterattack of a duo that in the final km was caught by Poels, who won the stage, ahead of Fuglsang, new overall leader.
Team BAHRAIN MERIDA captain Dylan Teuns managed to stay with the GC group, dropping just with few Kms to go and conceding 30” to stage winner Poels.
“Dylan did a great race to try to defend his GC position” Team Bahrain Merida Sports Director Vladimir Miholjević comments “The team was in full support of him and everybody did their maximum”. With only a stage ahead, the Belgian rider is now 6th overall “Tomorrow we will look for any possibility to move up in the GC and to jump on the podium again. It will be another demanding day in the saddle”.
