Critérium du Dauphiné

June 9th – 16th

FRIDAY, 14 JUNE 2019

Saint-Vulbas Plaine de l’Ain> Saint-Michel-de-Maurienne, 229km. Hilly.

Dylan Teuns is still second overall with two very demanding stages ahead. The Belgian rider finished in the group of the General Classification contenders, that crossed the finish line about 6 minutes behind the winner Alaphilippe who beat Mühlberger in the photo finish. They were part of the breakaway of the day, together with De Marchi, who dropped on the last climb.
“It was a regular day in the saddle for our leader Dylan Teuns” Team BAHRAIN MERIDA Sports Director Franco Pellizotti comments “The peloton didn’t try to bridge the gap to the escapees, seen that any of them was a treat for the general classification”. Today’s hilly course included 8 categorized climbs and after the last summit, riders faced a technical 5km descent into the finish.
“The final climb wasn’t hard to make the difference or to try a move to take the yellow-blue jersey back” Pelli adds “Better to save energy for the last two days. Tomorrow a hard one awaits the riders with a steep final ascent”.
