Critérium du Dauphiné

June 9th – 16th

THURSDAY, 13 JUNE 2019

Boën-sur-Lignon>Voiron, 201km. Flat.

Finally a sunny day at the Dauphiné, but Bahrain Merida colours don’t shine in the nice town of Voiron. Today’s stage was the last chance for the sprinters before three days on the mountains. TBM boys worked together with other sprinters teams to bring the early day breakaway back. The three escapees were caught with few kms to go and Sonny Colbrelli was at the front with his teammates. Then Boasson Hagen and Gilbert tried to anticipate the sprint with the Cobra still in a good position. But the late attack was caught by the peloton and on the high speed sprint won by Van Aert, Sonny takes 8th place: “It was the first hot day. I missed a bit the legs in the finale. It was a stage that suits more pure sprinters. The idea was to anticipate, but I didn’t succeed. Moreover the late attack blew our plans”.
