Colbrelli to lead Team BAHRAIN MERIDA at GP Beghelli
The day after the Giro dell’Emilia – on Sunday October 7th – the fast riders will challenge for the win of the “Gran Premio Bruno Beghelli” on the traditional course (196.3km), with start and finish in Monteveglio Valsamoggia (near Bologna).
“In comparison to the previous day, this race suits to the sprinters, so our line up is completely different” Team BAHRAIN MERIDA Sports Director Alberto Volpi says “Our leader is Sonny Colbrelli and the tactic is easy: our boys will exclusively support him and if everything goes like it’s supposed to and he has legs, he will fancy his chances at the finish, both with a selected group or a bunch sprint”.
Decisive, usually, is indeed the Zappolino’s circuit: 10 laps of 13.3km, including a 1.6km climb with an average gradient of 7%. But the summit is about 8km far from the finish line.
“The circuit can be selective, even if the climb is short. But it can hurt towards the end of the race” Sonny Colbrelli explains “I already won this race in 2015 and I will try again to take the victory. I didn’t succeed last year, but the winner attacked inside the final 5 km and I could only sprint for second place”.
Team BAHRAIN MERIDA line-up for GP Beghelli: Valerio Agnoli, Sonny Colbrelli, Andrea Garosio, Kristijan Koren, Antonio Nibali, Luka Pibernik, Maxim Pirard.
