Colbrelli 7th at the bunch sprint
Guilin 23rd October – today’s 212.2km course marks the longest stage of Tour of Guangxi in its first edition. Riders were experiencing the mountainous scenery with their average speed over 40km. Still, most of the sprinters survived at the climb. Sonny Colbrelli, our leader of the day, was among the selected group, he took 7th place.
Comments from Philippe Mauduit, our sports director: “7th at the sprint, it’s not really good, it’s not bad. The boys tried again. We are missing the right timing, actually. But as long as the boys try, it’s fine. You know, sprint is always a little bit gambling, sometimes you take a risk to start too early, and then it works; sometimes you wait a little bit too much, and it doesn’t work.”
“It’s going to be a bunch sprint tomorrow, we will try to bring our ‘dragon’ in the breakaway, and we will try a sprint for Sonny or Niccolò.” Tomorrow will be the last stage for Tour of Guangxi, 168.1km with 2 categorized climbs at the second part of the circuit course, it is the last chance for GC contenders to take actions.
