Bonifazio fifth in Krakow
“I was in a good position for the sprint – says Niccolò Bonifacio, today fifth at the finish – but I was forced to go to the left side of the road. There was a slower rider in front of me so I had to brake losing speed. “
“I had to start again – added the Italian, who won a stage here in Poland last year – but at that point the podium has gone. I am satisfied with my result and tomorrow I will have a new chance”
In the center of Krakow, after a bunch sprint, the world champion Peter Sagan took the victory and now is also the first GC leader of the Tour de Pologne.
Sports director Paolo Slongo comments “Bravo Bonifazio. He was a bit behind the last lap but recovered several positions and made a good sprint. The other guys were quiet in the peloton careful to avoid dangerous falls and any other risks”.
Tomorrow second stage from Tarnowskie Gory to Katowice. There are 142 kilometers without any difficulty and therefore it is easy to foresee a massive sprint, like today stage.
