BAHRAIN MERIDA Team ready for Canada

  |   Press

Friday, September 1st – Two demanding races are ahead of BAHRAIN MERIDA riders: Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec and Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal.

The first challenge in Canada will be on Friday, 8th of September, in Québec. Organizers of The Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec promise the race will be a prestigious event, consisted of 16 laps on the city circuit. One lap is 12,6 km long so the whole race is 201,6 km in total.  The race will be particularly well suited to punchers and those used to steep descents.

The second challenge on 10th of September is Grand Prix Cycliste de Montréal, an extremely high caliber competition. The riders will complete 17 laps through Montréal. One lap is 12,1 km so the total race distance will be 205,7 km.  A demanding climb with a difficult cadence will be a true test for every team.

Heinrich Haussler, one of the riders that will race in both races, is looking forward to the September challenges: “I’m really excited to race in Québec and Montréal. Also, being back in the team atmosphere is something I’m looking forward to. Both races are super fast, hard, exciting, classic’s style and as a team we can do top results in both races. Also, two great races for me to build my form for the rest of the season. Can’t wait!

Rider who knows Canada’s race very well Enrico Gasparotto commented: “Canada races are really two races that I like most after the Ardennes Classics. I was always successful there in the past so I hope to get good results for me and also for the team. BAHRAIN MERIDA has a good team for that kind of races so we can go in Canada with the bag full of dreams. Colbrelli is very much focused and he is in a good physical condition and we together can play two different cards. Personally I’m really happy to go Back to Canada, I missed those races last two years.

Philippe Mauduit, sports director for the race, is also optimistic: “The two races are in a circuit, each one has two hard climbs which make the race really difficult. Anyway, we are going there with a great team and we hope that Sonny and Enrico will be able to perform well in the races. We have a great team that will support them and try to put them in the best position for the very final.”

BAHRAIN MERIDA Team lineup for both Canadian races is: Yukiya Arashiro, Grega Bole, Borut Božič, Janez Brajkovič, Sonny Colbrelli, Enrico Gasparotto, Heinrich Haussler and Luka Pibernik.
