AIR starts with a good 6th place

  |   Press

Lido di Jesolo, 20 June, 1st stage – The first edition of the Adriatica Ionica Race starts with a sixth place after the 23.3km Team Time Trial. The inaugural stage ending nearby the Lido di Jesolo seaside was won by Quick-Step Floors with the Italian Elia Viviani wearing the leader jersey.

“It was the first time I did a TTT – says Taiwanese Chun-Kai Feng – and I have to say that it was a very useful experience. I had some uncertainty in the changes and in the best interpretation of the crosswind, but I certainly helped the team and this is important “.

“I lost contact with 2km to go – explains Italians Manuele Boaro – because I had pulled a lot in the first part. It was a difficult test not even because the wind has changed often and was not always in favor “.

Satisfied SD Vladimir Miholjevič: “Giovanni Visconti’s absence (he didn’t start due to a slight illness) penalized us in today’s race. It was a very fast time trial in the first part and more technical in the second part. A discreet stage if we consider that we have competed with one man less”.

Tomorrow, second stage from Lido di Jesolo to Maser (152km). The route will go from the Venetian sea to the heart of the Treviso’s hills after having overcome the two insidious climbs of Montello and Paderno del Grappa.
