A nice 9th finish for Navardauskas
Tuesday, January 16th – Started from Port Adelaide with its maritime history, riders were heading to Lyndoch by passing the well-known Barossa region surrounded by natural beauty. Ramūnas Navardauskas was the best in BAHRAIN MERIDA Team, he finished 9th; while it was André Greipel who claimed the victory in 145 kilometers race in the battle of the fast men.
“I am happy that I finished,” says our Lithuanian rider. “I was about to follow the wheels, had a nice position, and tried to go fast. I think I still have the feeling to follow the wheels. I was not like finding the best position, but stayed behind the sprinters, jumped from one wheel to another to get into a good position. It was not easy. It’s still the beginning of the season, I am looking forward to how I will improve the best of the season!”
“Still there are hard days to come, it’s one of the easy days. I will see stage 3 & 4 when we have some climbs. I think that will be big challenges for me. Because even today the small climbs were not so easy. But I’m looking forward to testing myself. It’s the best place to explore yourself and to see where you are.” Recovering in the best way possible after the successful heart surgery, a big applause for Navardauskas for the nice start today.
