A good teamwork at the Memorial Pantani

  |   Press

Cesenatico, September 22nd, 2018 – Good race for TBM at the Memorial Pantani. After a hard fought day, Vincenzo Nibali, Franco Pellizotti and Domenico Pozzovivo – who will be at the start of the Innsbruck World Championships in Austria in 8 days – were among the 18 protagonists who played for the victory. The young Italian Davide Ballerini won with Pellizotti in 6th place and the other two a little further behind.

Vincenzo Nibali was one of the brightest climber and the attack solo with only 2km to go: “It was a good test in a race that was very demanding. In the end the pace has always remained very high and it was difficult to get out of the group but I wanted to try the same to anticipate the 4 Team Androni’s fast riders”.

SD Alberto Volpi: “Vincenzo is a real champion and a brave rider and so it was right to try also in the finale. I’m happy: the team made the race, everyone was good and they did their job. We tried to make the race harder, in the final we were three but we missed Giovanni Visconti who could do a good sprint “.

Domenico Pozzovivo: “After my good third place last Wednesday at the Giro di Toscana, today I tried to run a race rather than attack to feel the sensations. Exam passed and I’m ready for the adventure with the Italian National Team”.

Franco Pellizotti: “It was the last race before the Worlds and it was important to have the right answer. On the last climb we were 3 out of 8 and this is a good sign. Personally, I finished the Vuelta in good condition, Domenico is fine and Vincenzo seemed to me in a clear growth “.
