A good team for the first Adriatica Ionica Race

  |   Press

The first edition of the Adriatico Ionica Race will start next Wednesday along the Piave river and ending Sunday in the Trieste city center after 670km. The first stage, a 23.3km Team Time Trial, is entirely flat but with a second part much technical. The day after, the peloton will leave the Lido di Jesolo seaside to get to Maser, between the Venetian hills.

The third stage is the most demanding one, for pure climbers. The peloton will have to face Passo Rolle (20.5 km at 5.9%) and Passo Valles (4.1 km at 8.6%) before the final on the Passo Giau (8.3 km to 9.3%). The penultimate day, the race will return to the sea with a 223km stage ending in Grado.

In the last 30km, the riders will have to go through two stretches of dirt road respectively 3.7km and 2.2km. The final is for sprinters: only 116km from Grado to Trieste, where the peloton will fight in the city circuit.

“It’s a very demanding race – comments SD Harald Morsher – with real climbs and a TTT that will certainly be decisive. We will have Giovanni Visconti for the GC and we believe that Manuele Boaro and Antonio Nibali can aim for some stages “.
